    The Opportunity

🎯 Mission-driven infrastructure: Your day-to-day work — from network uptime to identity management — directly enables a distributed workforce delivering financial inclusion at scale
🏆 Global recognition: Join a company recognised by CNBC's World Top 300 Fintechs and named among the Financial Times' Africa's Fastest Growing Companies for 5 consecutive years (2022–2026)
🚀 Scale challenges: Run wired and wireless networks, telephony, and end-user compute across 5 offices, 4 warehouses, 100+ retail sites, and 10 call centres — much of it in variable-connectivity markets
🌱 Purpose-built growth: Stand up Workplace IT capabilities for new sites and market launches as M-KOPA continues to expand across Africa

    What You'll Do

At M-KOPA, you'll own the Workplace IT roadmap end-to-end — from networks and telephony to end-user compute, identity, productivity tooling, and service management. You'll lead and grow a multi-country Workplace IT team, own the opex and capex budget, and drive cost discipline across hardware, connectivity, telephony, and software. Join us in combining strong technical infrastructure with a genuinely user-focused mindset that keeps a fast-growing, multi-country fintech productive and secure.

    Your Environment 💼

    - Networks & telephony: Wired and wireless networks across all offices, warehouses, and retail sites; contact-centre telephony across ~10 call-centre sites

    - On-site infrastructure: On-prem hardware and physical environments — server rooms, power, cooling, physical security, CCTV

    - End-user compute & mobility: Full lifecycle management of laptops, desktops, and phones for 2,500+ employees, plus endpoint and mobile device management (MDM)

    - Identity & access: Identity platform (directory, SSO, MFA), joiner/mover/leaver processes, and recertification for internal and external applications

    - Productivity & collaboration: Core software suite selection and management (collaboration, back-office, AI tools), vendor/contract management, licensing/SaaS spend, meeting-room and AV systems

    - Security & resilience: IT-side security hygiene (patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, hardening), business continuity and disaster recovery

    Our Workplace IT Approach 🚀

    - We balance cost, performance, security, and resilience — especially in variable-connectivity markets

    - We partner closely with the Security function on IT-side security hygiene, with clear ownership boundaries between the two functions

    - We keep access controls operationally excellent, low-friction for users, and audit-ready

    - We set and drive the norms and adoption practices that make tools actually succeed, not just get deployed

    - We measure ourselves against SLAs and service performance metrics that show IT is delivering

    What You Need

We care more about your skills than where you got them from — relevant degrees or certifications (e.g. ITIL, CISSP, cloud/network certs) are desirable but not required.

    Required Experience:

    - Proven leadership of a multi-site IT function at scale, ideally across multiple countries

    - Strong commercial and vendor-management skills — negotiating and managing ISPs, telco, hardware suppliers, and SaaS/MSP contracts

    - Strong security mindset and understanding of identity, endpoint, and network security

    - Solid network monitoring and performance fundamentals, and enough infrastructure depth (including physical/server-room engineering) to hold their own with specialists

    - Comfort operating in high-growth, emerging-market environments

    - User-focused mindset and experience collecting and responding to internal feedback on team performance

    - Experience leading a workplace IT team, or strong IC/manager experience in a related domain with demonstrable readiness to take the next step

    Location & Benefits

    - Based in one of M-KOPA's operating markets — Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, or Uganda — or in the UK, with regular travel across M-KOPA's operating markets (current and future)

    - Significant travel expected — potentially up to 25% at times, especially in the early phases of the role

    - Work with diverse teams across UK, Europe, and Africa

    - Professional development programs and coaching partnerships

    - Family-friendly policies and flexible working arrangements

    - Well-being support and career growth opportunities

    Our Mission 🌍

    JOB PURPOSE

You will lead individual internal audit engagements end-to-end across M-KOPA's operating markets (Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa), reporting to the Head of Internal Audit & Risk. This is an execution and delivery role: you own audits from planning through to reporting and follow-up, contribute directly to the annual audit plan, and present findings to management with the judgement and rigour expected of a seasoned, hands-on auditor.

    KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

    Audit Execution

    - Lead assigned audits from start to finish — planning and scoping, fieldwork/testing, documentation, reporting, and follow-up — in line with IIA standards and internal methodology.

    - Independently manage engagement timelines, evidence quality, and working paper standards without close supervision.

    - Identify root causes (not just symptoms), assess risk impact accurately, and develop practical, actionable recommendations.

    - Apply data analytics and audit management tooling to strengthen coverage and efficiency across engagements.

    Reporting & Stakeholder Management

    - Present audit findings directly to process owners and management, defending conclusions and negotiating realistic, risk-appropriate remediation actions.

    - Prepare clear, well-evidenced audit reports for review by the Head of Internal Audit & Risk.

    - Build credible working relationships with process owners and country teams to enable efficient fieldwork and honest engagement.

    Audit Planning

    - Contribute to the development of the annual risk-based audit plan, including scoping proposed engagements and estimating resourcing.

    - Flag emerging risks identified during fieldwork for inclusion in future audit cycles or escalation to the Head of Internal Audit & Risk.

    Follow-Up & Continuous Improvement

    - Track closure of agreed management actions, escalating overdue or inadequately remediated items.

    - Support development of audit methodology, templates, and standards as the function matures.

    - Mentor and provide on-the-job guidance to junior audit team members where applicable.

    ORGANISATION STRUCTURE

Reports to Head of Internal Audit & Risk

    EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    Education

    - Degree in a business-related field, IT, Business Information Systems, or a related technical/business field from a recognised university.

    - Professional certification required: one of Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or ACCA (or equivalent, e.g. CPA).

    - Additional certifications (e.g. CISM) are an added advantage.

    Experience

    - Minimum of 7+ years' audit experience, including prior experience at a Big Four (or equivalent top-tier external audit) firm — this is a requirement of the role, not merely an advantage.

    - Demonstrated track record of leading audits independently from planning through to reporting and follow-up, ideally spanning both business process and technology-related audits.

    Skills

    - Strong technical audit execution skills — testing design, sampling, evidence evaluation, and root-cause analysis.

    - Confident, articulate communicator able to present and defend findings to management under scrutiny.

    - Sound working knowledge of risk management principles and control frameworks.

    - Strong personal organisation — able to manage multiple concurrent engagements and deadlines with minimal supervision.

    - Ability to maintain the highest levels of integrity, confidentiality, and objectivity.

    - Comfortable operating across multiple markets and cultures, with willingness to travel.

This is an execution and delivery role: you own audits from planning through to reporting and follow-up, contribute directly to the annual audit plan, and present findings to management with the judgement and rigour expected of a seasoned, hands-on auditor. [https://app.ashbyhq.com/api/images/user-content/1d985516-2a99-43c0-b591-957f5adaceb9/5e9f3448-2fed-4b66-b1ee-9474279a7947/B13.png] KEY JOB FUNCTIONS Audit Execution - Lead assigned audits from start to finish — planning and scoping, fieldwork/testing, documentation, reporting, and follow-up — in line with IIA standards and internal methodology. - Independently manage engagement timelines, evidence quality, and working paper standards without close supervision. - Identify root causes (not just symptoms), assess risk impact accurately, and develop practical, actionable recommendations. - Apply data analytics and audit management tooling to strengthen coverage and efficiency across engagements. Reporting & Stakeholder Management - Present audit findings directly to process owners and management, defending conclusions and negotiating realistic, risk-appropriate remediation actions. - Prepare clear, well-evidenced audit reports for review by the Head of Internal Audit & Risk. - Build credible working relationships with process owners and country teams to enable efficient fieldwork and honest engagement. Audit Planning - Contribute to the development of the annual risk-based audit plan, including scoping proposed engagements and estimating resourcing. - Flag emerging risks identified during fieldwork for inclusion in future audit cycles or escalation to the Head of Internal Audit & Risk. Follow-Up & Continuous Improvement - Track closure of agreed management actions, escalating overdue or inadequately remediated items. - Support development of audit methodology, templates, and standards as the function matures. - Mentor and provide on-the-job guidance to junior audit team members where applicable. Experience - Minimum of 7+ years' audit experience, including prior experience at a Big Four (or equivalent top-tier external audit) firm — this is a requirement of the role, not merely an advantage. - Demonstrated track record of leading audits independently from planning through to reporting and follow-up, ideally spanning both business process and technology-related audits. Skills - Strong technical audit execution skills — testing design, sampling, evidence evaluation, and root-cause analysis. Canonical
This is a general track role, hiring for opportunities across all levels of seniority in our Sales Teams.

Apply here if you believe you possess outstanding revenue generating experience from the Technology industry.

Open source software is the new default in the enterprise, and Canonical is the new challenger to major enterprise software vendors.

We deliver better open source from the data center to cloud and edge. Our Linux distribution Ubuntu is now the leading platform for public cloud compute, and the favorite platform for software engineers, data scientists and AI developers. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption and quality of open source globally, and our goal is to ship the most software on the planet by cores. A tidal wave of open source innovation is the next phase of the entire enterprise software industry, and we aim to be the most compelling way to ride that wave.

Our customers include Global 500 enterprises and startups. We are expanding our product range from the base operating system - Ubuntu - to full enterprise solutions in infrastructure and applications. We can deliver software defined storage, private cloud solutions, container runtime environments, as well as databases, message queues, identity, observability, analytics, machine learning and web publishing capabilities. Customers love the idea that they can get security compliance and support for everything open source from a single company. Our goal is to have more solutions on tap than any other vendor, and we have built unique capabilities to make that possible across every cloud, every class of compute and every category of application.

Canonical provides licensed enterprise software products, commercial support, managed services, consulting and training services to customers who are deploying Ubuntu or open source applications on the cloud, in their data center, or to the connected device and IoT ecosystem. We are just over 1,000 colleagues in 70+ countries and $250m in revenue, profitable, on a steady but relentless growth trajectory. We are almost entirely distributed, with leadership spread across many countries. We believe that talent is equally distributed across the globe, and we are excited to hire, develop, promote and ultimately trust a diverse group of exceptional leads to build the best, not biggest, enterprise software company.

We hire carefully and deliberately; our selection process is long and requires substantial work from applicants. It will take successful applicants three to six months to secure an offer. This is not a place to apply if you are in a rush to find a position, it is a worthwhile place to apply if you are ambitious and long-term in your thinking about your career and the dynamics which move the world forward. If you see clearly the rise of open source, and you understand the drivers of enterprise procurement and technical decision making, then you will understand why Canonical has such a tremendous long term advantage. You will also understand, given the ferocity of competition and the challenges of competing in a market of giants, that we have to set a very high bar for hiring and performance. In order to be a world leading company we select for exceptional ability as well as character, and then provide an environment which promotes teamwork and celebrates diligence, collaboration and effectiveness. All of those are easy to say but hard to do - at Canonical we are willing to be uncomfortable in pursuit of that excellence.

In building our sales team, we look for five things:

    - Empathy for the customer - a real understanding of customer needs, industry-specific challenges, and a desire to help customers solve their business problems

    - High intellect - the ability to learn quickly, understand very complex subjects, and communicate clearly to build trust and confidence

    - Passion for technology - a fascination with the state of the art from brilliant people solving hard problems, and fierce competition for large prizes

    - Teamwork - a willingness to help others, to collaborate well with people from different disciplines, and to balance personal and team ambitions

    - Energy - the drive to motivate oneself and others to achieve the best result for the team and our customers

Ubuntu is already very widely adopted which gives us a credible basis for conversations in the market. Nevertheless, it requires real work for sales professionals to build on that adoption to create trusted and profitable commercial relationships with the enterprises in their territory. Our product managers and marketing teams run campaigns to generate awareness, engagement and leads, but you will need to go beyond managing inbound interest to develop the potential of your territory. You will need judgement as to which industries and companies are ready to go deeper with open source and Canonical, and energy to develop relationships in advance of proven interest. We expect professional practice, territory and account planning, as well as clear, complete and continuous reporting on pipeline status and activity, using standard professional tools.

The successful candidate will carry an annual bookings quota within their assigned territory. They should be able to travel regionally for client engagement, industry conferences, and internationally for company events twice a year. They will be expected to demonstrate professionalism and effectiveness, to prospect accounts for new business, maintain and develop existing relationships, and work with colleagues and partners on account strategy. They must be comfortable selling enterprise software, open source, cloud, virtualization, container technologies and technical software solutions to senior levels of the enterprise.

Location: We are expanding our sales organisation globally and have open roles in every region.

What your day will look like

    - Represent the company, its solutions and software, in your territory

    - Build and execute a territory plan to...

In building our sales team, we look for five things: - Empathy for the customer - a real understanding of customer needs, industry-specific challenges, and a desire to help customers solve their business problems - High intellect - the ability to learn quickly, understand very complex subjects, and communicate clearly to build trust and confidence - Passion for technology - a fascination with the state of the art from brilliant people solving hard problems, and fierce competition for large prizes - Teamwork - a willingness to help others, to collaborate well with people from different disciplines, and to balance personal and team ambitions - Energy - the drive to motivate oneself and others to achieve the best result for the team and our customers Ubuntu is already very widely adopted which gives us a credible basis for conversations in the market. Open source software is the new default in the enterprise, and Canonical is the new challenger to major enterprise software vendors.

We are profitable and growing our global enterprise sales organisation. We are hiring regional sales team managers in Europe, Middle East, India, Asia, ANZ, Africa, Latin America, Central America and North America, each of whom will lead a team of five to ten enterprise sales representatives.

We are just over 1,000 colleagues in 70+ countries and over $250m in revenue, profitable, on a steady but relentless growth trajectory.

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is very widely used in breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation and IoT. Our customers include the world's leading public cloud and silicon providers, and industry leaders in many sectors. The company is a pioneer of global distributed collaboration, with 1000+ colleagues in 70+ countries and very few roles based in offices. Teams meet two to four times yearly in person, in interesting locations around the world, to align on strategy and execution.

The company is founder led, profitable and growing. We are hiring a Solutions Architect for Automotive to help our partners (companies like Mercedes, Ford, GM, Elektrobit, Intel, Nvidia, Google, Dell, HP, Accenture, Tata and the like) and prospects understand and embrace our open source platform for themselves and their customers.

Our worldwide field engineering team apply expert insights to real-world customer problems, enabling the enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps and a wide range of associated technologies. We are experts in the whole open source stack, from kernel to desktop, from cloud to embedded. They also enjoy the pace of change and diversity of client engagements with driven and ambitious technology entrepreneurs. Competitive, business-focused technologists at heart, they are also dedicated team players that take pride in team and company wins.
We often say that our field engineers have 'the hardest job at Canonical' because customers can ask about any aspect of our solutions and products and expect a thoughtful, well-informed answer. We always want to do the best thing for our partners and customers, regardless of our company interests, and field engineers are the people we trust to ensure that is true.

Location: This is a home-based role, we are hiring worldwide.

What your day will look like

    - Participate to the delivery of select projects related to Embedded Linux, including demos and PoCs

    - Convey market requirements to key stakeholders in our organization, and sometimes participate to the development or refining of generic solutions to unlock market potential

    - Be both a customer advocate and a trusted advisor to Canonical

If you have a passion for the latest open source technologies applied to Automotive, if you want to play an active role in building Software Defined Vehicles, if you are curious with a will to learn how to leverage and adapt Cloud technologies to the embedded world, you will love working at Canonical.

What we are looking for in you

    - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field

    - Extensive Linux experience - Debian or Ubuntu preferred

    - Result-oriented, ability to multi-task

    - A personal drive to meet commitments

    - An humble learner and quick study

    - Relevant experience in the Automotive industry

We are looking for Telecom account executives with particular interest in these markets:

Middle East, DACH region, Nordics, Eastern Europe, USA.

For these roles, it is also preferable to be fluent in the local language.

For these roles, it is also preferable to be fluent in the local language.
