Lang'ata and Karen: a neighbourhood guide

Lang'ata sub-county takes in Karen, Nairobi West, Mugumoini, South C and Nyayo Highrise, with Lang'ata, Hardy, Wilson and Mbagathi in between. It is home to more of Nairobi's famous days out than anywhere else in the city.

Wildlife on the city's doorstep

  • Nairobi National Park - lions, giraffes and rhinos with the skyline behind them.
  • Giraffe Centre - feed and learn about Rothschild's giraffes up close.

Culture and history

Bomas of Kenya shows traditional homesteads and dance from communities across Kenya, and Uhuru Gardens marks where Kenya's independence was declared in 1963.

Eating out and getting around

Carnivore is a Nairobi institution for nyama choma, and Galleria Mall covers everyday shopping. Wilson Airport handles domestic and regional flights.

Share your favourite weekend plans in the Lang'ata community.
