Wicknell Chivayo: Streets Brought to Standstill as Many Line Up to Watch Convoy

Hundreds of residents poured onto the streets of Harare on Wednesday to pay their respects to businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, as a funeral cortege bearing their remains wound its way through the city.

The procession drew crowds along the central business district as vehicles carrying the couple's remains departed Doves Funeral Parlour, heading to the family's Gletwin home where the bodies would lie in state before burial.

Video footage circulating online showed residents standing shoulder to shoulder along the roadside, many appearing visibly sombre as the convoy passed.
