Rescue teams are racing to find survivors after an 18-storey building collapsed in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on Friday, October 23, with several people feared trapped beneath the rubble.

The building came down along Yusuf Haji Avenue, next to Day to Day Supermarket on 9th Street, bringing business in the area to a halt as hundreds of people gathered at the scene.

Construction workers are feared to be among those trapped under the debris. Unverified reports also indicate that the building’s lower floors housed shops and other business premises.
