I'm serious about getting England call - Hendy

Northampton back George Hendy says he is determined to force his way into England contention, with the autumn internationals looming.

George Hendy has scored 44 tries in 80 games for Northampton so far

Hendy has been one of the Saints' form players over the past few seasons, making match-winning contributions in the Prem final victories in 2024 and 2026.

But while a host of club-mates have become regulars for their country, the 24-year-old has had to bide his time.

"I just want to throw my hat in the ring for England and I'm really quite serious about that," Hendy told BBC Sport.

"Whether that's on the wing or at 15, whatever gives me the best opportunity to get into that squad, I want to take it, and I am pretty happy with the direction I am going in."

England boss Steve Borthwick will name a training squad on Sunday in preparation for the November leg of the Nations Championship.
