Citizen TV reporter Odee Francis has been arrested by police officers in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

Odee was covering protests against the fuel price hike along Kimathi Street on Tuesday, October 20, when he was arrested.

In a video seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the reporter is seen being roughed up alongside other protesters before being bundled into a police vehicle.

Attempts by other journalists to stop the plainclothes officers from arresting Odee proved futile.

A group of activists had taken to the streets on Tuesday to protest against the recent hike in fuel prices.

In its latest monthly review on October 14, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced an increase in fuel prices, with Super Petrol rising by Ksh12.93 per litre, Diesel by Ksh9.90 and Kerosene by Ksh28.4.

EPRA said the adjustments were based on the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products during the period under review.
