The US Embassy in Kenya has announced it will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2026, to mark Columbus Day, a federal public holiday in the United States.

The Embassy confirmed the closure in a post on Friday, October 9, stating: "The U.S. Embassy will be closed on Monday, 12th October 2026 in observance of Columbus Day."

Columbus Day is a federally designated public holiday in the United States, observed annually on the second Monday of October. It is one of 11 federal holidays formally recognised by the US government.
