Canada Announces Fresh Travel Warning for Kenya

Kenya has so far been exempted from travel restrictions placed on Uganda and DRC by Canada, although that could change over the next month or so.

Canada has updated its travel advisory for Kenya following confirmation of an Ebola case in Nairobi linked to the ongoing Bundibugyo outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

In its latest guidance, Canada urged travellers to avoid healthcare facilities in affected areas unless urgent treatment is required, follow local health guidelines and maintain appropriate hygiene.

Visitors have further been told to monitor their health during their stay and for 21 days after leaving Kenya, seeking immediate medical attention and isolating themselves if symptoms develop.

“Monitor your health while in Kenya and for 21 days after you leave. If you develop symptoms of Ebola disease, isolate yourself from others and seek medical care right away,” the advisory stated.
