KERICHO, Kenya, Oct 8 – Maurine Jepkoech Chebor and Sandrafelis Chebet headline a strong women’s field set to compete in the fifth edition of the Betika Cross Country this Saturday at the Kericho Teachers Training College, where more than 900 athletes will battle for a share of the Sh1.1 million prize purse. Last year’s runners-up Abigael Chepkoech and third-place finisher Diana Chepkemoi will also return to Kericho to go one-better this time around. Last year’s runners-up Abigael Chepkoech and third-place finisher Diana Chepkemoi will also return to Kericho to go one-better this time around. Chepkoech clocked 33:54.73 to finish runner-up to winner Caren Chebet last year, while Chepkemoi completed the podium in 34:13.85.

Leading the field alongside them is Chebor, who comes into the race following an impressive season that included successfully defending her Betika BingwaFest National Finals 10,000m title in Meru.

She clocked 32:17.2 at Kinoru Stadium to retain the title she won during the inaugural edition.
