Parliament Approves Former Woman Rep as New PSC Commissioner

75 applicants showed interest in the post, among others serves legislators, with 12 shortlisted for interviews according to Parliament.

Parliament has approved Former Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Ibrahim Ali as the female non-Member Commissioner of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), completing the parliamentary approval process for her appointment.

Tabling the Motion before the National Assembly, PSC Commissioner Hon Patrick Maau said that the candidates were subjected to a very comprehensive assessment, which covered going through the academic and professional qualifications and parliamentary experience as well as integrity.

“The Commission interviewed her on 10th September 2026 and assessed her qualifications, covering academic qualifications, relevant experience, understanding of Parliament and the Commission, leadership and management, and the Chapter Six requirements on leadership and integrity,” said Hon. Makau.
