MP says he asked for two more weeks to provide evidence supporting remarks made in Parliament

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has claimed he was not given enough time to substantiate remarks he made in Parliament concerning investments in Kenya Pipeline Company.

Nyoro spoke after Speaker Moses Wetang’ula ruled that he would be excluded from transacting business on the floor of the House for five sitting days after he declined to apologise over the said remarks.

The MP said he accepted the ruling but maintained that he had intended to provide evidence to support what he had told the House.

"I was not given enough time to be able to, in a parliamentary way, substantiate what I revealed," Nyoro claimed.

He said he did not want to make claims he could not substantiate, but maintained that he stood by his remarks.

The MP said he would continue raising issues concerning the management of public resources despite the disciplinary action taken against him.
