KURA Gives Major Update on Construction of Nairobi BRT Line

The Kenya Urban Road Authority (KURA) has confirmed the commencement of construction of the planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line 5.

Responding to concerns about whether the project has started, KURA said the contractor has already arrived at the proposed site and is mobilizing and clearing the area.

"The contractor is already on site mobilizing and clearing the corridor," KURA stated.

The announcement followed concerns among sections of the public seeking to understand the project's progress since the signing of the Establishment of BRT Line 5 Project in March 2026.

According to the authority, the BRT Line 5 corridor will run along Outer Ring Road, specifically from Allsops to Taj Mall.

It is expected to enhance mobility, reduce traffic congestion, shorten commuters' travel time, and improve connectivity within the Nairobi Metropolitan region.
