Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris has disclosed that she once attempted to register a political party called the Harambee Democratic Party, only to lose the resulting case at the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal after authorities ruled she could not use the name "Harambee."

Passaris made the revelation on Tuesday, October 6, when she was responding to the United Opposition's claims that the Registrar of Political Parties had frustrated their attempts to formalise the Linda Mwananchi Movement, led by Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna.
