Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Garissa have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a US national who was reportedly attacked in Garissa County in May.
The investigation relates to the death of a US national, Osman Aweys Abdi, who was attacked on May 28, 2026, near Abubeida School in Bulla Mzuri, about 5 km north of Iftin Police Station.
According to the DCI, the victim is said to have sustained a stab wound to his left thigh and an injury to the left side of his head after allegedly being struck with a blunt object. His mobile phone was also reportedly taken during the incident.
The DCI said Osman’s brother was alerted by a well-wisher who had obtained the victim’s contact details. He reportedly rushed to the scene and took his brother to Antalya Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
