Trafficking of Kenyans to Asia has become a headache for the government, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under pressure to tame the vice.

A Kenyan woman was rescued from a suspected prostitution racket in Patna, India, on Saturday, October 3.

The Kenyan was rescued during a night operation in the Danapur subdivision, about 14 kilometres west of central Patna.

Patna is the capital of Bihar, a state in eastern India, located about 1,000 kilometres from Mumbai.

According to reports from India, the Kenyan was among three women rescued during raids at two hotels in the area.

Kenyans.co.ke has learnt that police confiscated copies of the Kenyan woman’s passport to verify her details after rescuing her from the first hotel.

During a second raid, police rescued two other women and seized two mobile phones, objectionable items and the hotel register.

Police said they were examining the phones and hotel records to identify intermediaries and other people allegedly involved in the prostitution racket.
