Kenya Met has also warned of flooding across several areas and regions, as well as significant disruption to traffic alongside other related impacts.

Kenya is set for a wetter October, with the Kenya Meteorological Service Authority(KMSA) forecasting above-average rainfall across several parts of the country and warning of heavy rainfall events that could trigger flooding and other weather-related hazards.

The rains are expected to begin at different times across the country, with Nairobi, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and other central and eastern counties expected to receive the rains from the second to third week of October.

In Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu and the Tana Delta, the rains are already continuing from September.

KMSA expects above-average rainfall in Makueni, Kajiado, Machakos, Nairobi, Kiambu, Murang'a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru, Nyandarua and Nyeri, among other areas.
