2027 presidential race: William Ruto leads new poll, Sifuna emerges as second preferred candidate

A new Politrack poll puts William Ruto ahead in the 2027 presidential race, with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna second as 20,419 voters reveal their preferences.

Nairobi - A new poll has placed President William Ruto firmly ahead of all potential rivals in the 2027 presidential race, with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna making a notable entry as the second most preferred candidate.

The Politrack Research Team conducted the survey between September 15 and 25, 2026, asking a nationwide sample of potential voters which presidential candidate they would support if the election were held at that time.

Ruto secured 45.1% of respondents' preference, a commanding lead over the field. Sifuna followed at 19.6%, placing him ahead of more seasoned political figures including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who recorded 10.3%.
