Dangote to Build Training School in Lamu, Announces Job Opportunities for Select Kenyans

Dangote explained that the institution would train 1,000 locals, who would be employed once the refinery begins operations.

Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote on Wednesday, September 30, announced that he will establish a training school in Lamu County.

Speaking during the Lamu Oil Refinery groundbreaking, Dangote told Lamu Governor Issa Timamy that the refinery will prioritise creating opportunities for locals.

"Mr Governor, before we start, I want to assure you that we will set up a training school that will train 1,000 of your people," Dangote said.

The billionaire businessman reiterated that the refinery would generate at least 60,000 jobs for Lamu Residents, Kenyans, and eligible individuals from East Africa. He added that the recruitment exercise would prioritise engineering students.
