DCI arrests Tanzanian couple linked to bus passenger stupefying syndicate

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have dismantled a suspected stupefying syndicate targeting bus passengers, arresting a couple in Mombasa after a trail of forensic evidence led them to a house in the Magongo area.

The DCI announced the arrests on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, naming the suspects as both Tanzanian nationals.

The case that triggered the investigation unfolded on September 18, 2026, when a passenger boarded a Dreamline bus travelling from Nairobi to Mombasa.

During the journey, a fellow passenger seated beside him allegedly administered a stupefying substance, rendering him unconscious.
