Kanja emphasised the need for collaboration among security agencies in addressing traffic violations and other security challenges
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has directed police officers to intensify traffic enforcement ahead of the festive season, warning motorists against reckless behaviour as road traffic is expected to increase in the coming weeks.
Kanja ordered a nationwide crackdown on unroadworthy vehicles and motorcycles, drunk driving, dangerous driving, speeding and overloading as thousands of Kenyans prepare to travel for the end-of-year holidays.
The police chief said increased road traffic and commercial activities during the final weeks of the year could expose motorists, passengers and pedestrians to heightened road safety risks.
“We anticipate increased road traffic and heightened commercial activities; we expect you to curtail drunkenness and dangerous driving, speeding, overloading and unroadworthy motor vehicles and motorcycles,” Kanja directed.
