The planned project comes amid heightened scrutiny of Nairobi’s high-rise buildings, with authorities stepping up inspections and oversight of construction sites.
The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment report for a proposed 25-storey residential development along Ring Road in Westlands, Nairobi, comprising 464 apartments and other amenities.
According to an official Gazette notice published on Friday, November 6, the project will feature two basement levels, a ground floor and 25 additional floors if approved.
The development, proposed by a private limited company, will include 243 one-bedroom units, 154 two-bedroom apartments, 66 three-bedroom units and one penthouse.
The plans also provide for 284 parking spaces, swimming pools, landscaped gardens, children’s play areas and communal sitting spaces.
NEMA has invited members of the public to submit comments on the proposal within 30 days as part of the environmental assessment process.
