The Public Service CS says Nairobi needs visionary leadership and better services as Sakaja, Babu Owino and other political players position themselves for 2027
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has declared interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, setting the stage for a potentially competitive race against incumbent Johnson Sakaja in the 2027 General Election.
Ruku announced his political ambitions on Tuesday, November 3, while addressing residents of South B, Nairobi, where he expressed confidence in his ability to lead the capital and improve service delivery.
The CS said Nairobi needed a leader with integrity, vision and the determination to address longstanding challenges facing the county, adding that the city's strategic importance demanded effective leadership.
He argued that Nairobi was not just a county but a national asset whose leadership should reflect its status as Kenya's capital and a major economic centre in the region.
