Kirinyaga Woman Rep Njeri Maina has addressed claims that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has already been settled on as the presidential candidate for the United Alternative Government.
In an interview on Monday, November 2, she said no formal decision had been reached on who would represent the opposition coalition in the presidential race.
Maina explained that although Sifuna's name may have been floated as a possible candidate, the discussions had not resulted in a formal agreement or announcement.
"There is no such decision because if it were, there would be an announcement. There is no coalition agreement yet between any of the parties in the united alternative government. Maybe it’s been floated but it has not been decided," she said.
This comes days after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was booed during the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement headquarters over Sifuna's bid.
Kalonzo found himself on the receiving end after claiming that Sifuna was just a party leader and not yet the presidential candidate.
