Jack Campbell was placed on a stretcher and carted off the pitch during the Detroit Lions' game on Sunday, before being taken to hospital.
Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was taken to hospital to be treated for a neck injury after being hurt during an NFL game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Campbell's head was struck while tackling tight end TJ Hockenson in the third quarter, and he was face down on the pitch when medical officials rushed to his side.
The 26-year-old was placed on a stretcher and taken off the pitch on a cart to a round of applause after team-mates and most of the Lions coaching staff surrounded him while he received attention.
"Thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family. He's being taken care of, we don't have any new information," said Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
Jack Campbell - who is not related to the coach - was drafted by the Lions with the number 18 overall pick in 2023 and signed a contract extension in May of this year through to the 2030 season.
