The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has impounded 13 vehicles along the Southern Bypass in Nairobi.
In an update on Thursday, October 29, NTSA said the vehicles were impounded on Wednesday night during a safety compliance operation.
The authority noted that the vehicles were detained after an inter-agency team identified several safety violations involving drivers and the vehicles.
“Last night, the inter-agency team conducted a safety compliance check along the Southern Bypass, during which thirteen motor vehicles were detained,” NTSA stated.
The violations included motorists driving under the influence of alcohol and operating with expired driving licenses.
NTSA also said the impounded vehicles were found to have expired inspection stickers, operating without insurance and contravening insurance terms.
Other safety concerns were vehicles with broken headlights and cracked windscreens.
