NAIROBI, Kenya, October 28, 2026 – Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor is expected to ring the changes for their FKF Premier League tie against Kakamega Homeboyz in Kakamega on Wednesday evening. The Ghanaian said he will give playing time to a number of fringe players who have not had much chance to play thus far.
“This time around, maybe there will be one or two changes because the rest of the guys have played 90 minutes and above. And so we want to give, especially those who came in and did well, they did very well, so we want to give them a chance,” Akonnor said.
The gaffer allayed fears that wholesale changes to the starting line-up will downgrade the level of quality of play for the champions, who have been peerless thus far in the new season.
“As a team we know exactly what we are doing, what we have to do. We are not too worried in giving any other player the chance to play,” he said.
The likes of ex-Ulinzi Stars marksman Paul Okoth, winger David ‘Messi’ Okoth, former Nairobi United midfielder Enock Machaka and Lewis Bandi could earn a starting berth in the midweek encounter.
