Nairobi can be tough, with traffic, high costs and constant pressure. Yet millions of people stay, and many would not live anywhere else. What keeps you here: the opportunities, the people, the energy, or something deeper? Tell us honestly whether you plan to stay or leave one day.

Carol JepchirchirHate it some days, love it most days. I stay because my work is here and my kids are in school here. If remote work becomes normal for my job, I would move somewhere quieter and visit Nairobi on weekends.Hate it some days, love it most days. Mark OchiengThe people. Nairobi humour is unmatched, the sheng changes every month and the jokes on a matatu can save a bad day. I hate the traffic and the rent, but I would miss the energy too much if I left. The people. Nairobi humour is unmatched, the sheng changes every month and the jokes on a matatu can save a bad day. Esther MuthoniOpportunity, honestly. In Nairobi you can meet someone at a bus stop who connects you to your next job. It is tiring, but things happen here faster than anywhere else I have lived. I plan to stay until I can buy land back home, then maybe split my time.Opportunity, honestly. In Nairobi you can meet someone at a bus stop who connects you to your next job.
