Chemical Engineer – Heat Exchanger & Scrubber Design and Sales
Job descriptions & requirements
We are seeking a technically competent and commercially driven Chemical Engineer to support the design, selection, costing, sales, and technical support of heat exchangers and industrial scrubber systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers to understand their process requirements, develop suitable engineering solutions, prepare technical and commercial proposals, and support projects from initial inquiry through design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and size shell-and-tube, plate, air-cooled and other heat exchanger systems based on process requirements.
• Design and select appropriate wet scrubbers, packed-bed scrubbers, venturi scrubbers and other gas-cleaning systems.
• Perform engineering calculations including heat and mass balances, heat-transfer calculations, pressure-drop calculations, fluid-flow calculations and equipment sizing.
• Select appropriate construction materials based on temperature, pressure, corrosion, chemical compatibility and operating conditions.
• Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs and equipment layouts where required.
• Review customer process data and recommend suitable heat exchanger or scrubber solutions.
• Prepare technical and commercial quotations, equipment costing, proposals and tender documents.
• Conduct customer meetings, presentations, technical discussions and site visits.
• Identify new customers and business opportunities in industries requiring heat-transfer and pollution-control equipment.
• Follow up on quotations and inquiries and negotiate technical and commercial requirements with customers.
• Work closely with fabrication, procurement and project teams to ensure equipment is manufactured according to approved specifications.
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and develop opportunities for repeat business.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, safety requirements and customer specifications.
• Maintain proper documentation for designs, calculations, quotations and completed projects.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Good understanding of heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and process engineering.
• Knowledge of heat exchanger and scrubber design principles.
• Ability to interpret process conditions such as flow rate, temperature
