Our client is a rapidly growing company operating at the intersection of Telecommunications, Energy, and Civil Works. With over 100 employees and an aggressive expansion trajectory, they are seeking a HR Manager to build and lead the human resource’s function. This is a true head-of-function role, reporting directly to the Managing Director, with a mandate to shape people strategy in a dynamic, safety-conscious, and fast-paced environment.
About the Role
The ideal candidate is a systems-builder who thrives in a start-up or scale-up context. You will be responsible for designing HR infrastructure from the ground up—not just maintaining existing systems. You are equally comfortable operating at the strategic level (70%) and rolling up your sleeves for operational delivery (30%).

Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership (70%)
· Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives & operational requirements
· Lead talent initiatives including recruitment, employee engagement, and succession and workforce planning.
· Build and improve HR policies, SOPs, and operational frameworks, to drive HR best practices and compliance
· Serve as a strategic advisor to the MD and senior leadership team on all people-related matters
· Drive and strengthen performance through structured performance management.
· Develop and lead a comprehensive employee retention strategy, with a specific focus on engagement and career development for young professionals.
Health & Safety Integration
· Champion the integration of Health & Safety into the people agenda, embedding awareness and company ownership for healthy and safety.
· Ensure compliance with all statutory H&S requirements as they relate to workforce management.
HR Operations & Compliance (30%)
· Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes, including workforce planning.
· Oversee HR administration, payroll coordination, attendance management, leave, and employee records.
· Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and grievance handling
· Coordinate learning and development programs, including safety training and technical upskilling
· Prepare and submit regular HR reports, including headcount, turnover, recruitment metrics, and training participation, to support strategic decision-making.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a HR management role.
· Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K) qualification from HRMPEB.
· Registered member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) with a valid practising certificate.
· Proven, hands-on experience in building HR systems and processes from scratch in a high-growth environment.
· Strong working knowledge of the Kenyan Employment Act, 2007, and all related legislation.
· Demonstrated experience in Health & Safety integration within a safety-intense environment (e.g., Telco, Engineering, Power, Oil & Gas, Construction).
· Ability to travel frequently to project sites across different counties.
· Demonstrated success in implementing employee retention programmes for a young workforce.
