TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
Duties and Responsibilities
• Duties and responsibilities will entail meat inspection, carrying out simple treatment of animals, and participating in disease research and reporting. The officer will demonstrate milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting, and will carry out vaccination and undertake closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
• Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health, Animal Health and Production or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
• A six-month certificate in Meat Inspection from a recognized institution;
• Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board; and,
• Certificate in computer application skills.
