Job Description
Location: LaikipiaJob PurposeTalent Grid Africa, on behalf of our client, a leading agricultural enterprise, is looking for a highly skilled Irrigation Foreman. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing everyday watering schedules, maintaining irrigation infrastructure, and ensuring optimal soil moisture levels specifically for fine beans and tenderstems across production farms. This role acts as a vital link in the grower's supply chain, supporting hands-on field monitoring, conducting routine equipment checks, and ensuring peak water efficiency.
Key Responsibilities• Manage and oversee daily irrigation cycles safely to support maximum yields of premium fine beans and tenderstems.• Perform daily field and soil moisture inspections, checking nutrient levels, watering depth, and overall plant health.• Adhere to farm harvesting timelines by following optimal irrigation schedules and crop management practices provided by farm management.• Secure and monitor irrigation practices to prevent water logging, drought stress, or loss of crop quality during vital growth stages.• Execute basic system troubleshooting and routine preventive maintenance on specialized drip and overhead irrigation networks.• Maintain meticulous field documentation, including precise water usage logs, maintenance sheets, and signed inspection notes.• Comply strictly with agricultural safety standards, including chemical fertigation handling regulations, global zero-harm protocols, and environmental laws.
Qualifications✓ Diploma in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or a closely related field is mandatory.✓ 2 years of active irrigation or farm supervisory experience specializing directly in fine beans and tenderstems.
✓ Prior experience supervising field workers and managing open-field or greenhouse irrigation operations for export-oriented distribution companies.✓ Familiar with GlobalGAP compliance standards, safe water use regulations, and basic plumbing/irrigation network repair.
