Major roads Leading to Nairobi CBD Blocked Ahead of the GenZ Memorial Celebrations

Nairobi Traffic & Security Update

Motorists and commuters are advised to plan their journeys carefully as heightened security operations continue across several routes into Nairobi.

🔹 Kangemi: Public service vehicles (PSVs) are being turned back, causing significant commuter delays.

🔹 Nairobi CBD (GPO Area): Increased police deployment reported. Motorists approaching the city centre should expect delays and enhanced security screening.

🔹 Rongai (Masai Lodge Junction): Multiple roadblocks have led to heavy traffic congestion and slower movement.

🔹 Lang’ata Road: Inbound traffic toward the CBD remains restricted near Nyayo Stadium.

🔹 Ngong Road: Security checkpoints have been established along the inbound section, with vehicles undergoing screening near the West Park area.

🔹 Nairobi West Roundabout: Access beyond the roundabout remains restricted for motorists.

🔹 Limuru Town: Long traffic queues, including a growing backlog of trucks, have been reported, resulting in significant congestion.

🔹 Kingero Junction (Lower Kabete–Western Bypass): Public transport vehicles are being redirected, while access toward the city remains limited for some private motorists.

🔹 Thika Road Corridor: Security checkpoints and diversions around TRM, Ruiru, Githurai and Allsops are affecting traffic flow toward the CBD.

🔹 Waiyaki Way: Major disruptions continue following restrictions near Uthiru, with additional checks reported at the Kangemi flyover.

🔹 Westlands and Kiambu Routes: Traffic movement has been slowed considerably due to multiple security checkpoints and resulting congestion.

Commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time, consider alternative routes where possible, and stay updated on changing traffic conditions throughout the day.
