Nairobi Governor issued a 6-hour ultimatum to Babu Owino over alleged defamatory remarks regarding the Eastleigh building that collapsed on October 23.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has refused to back down after Governor Johnson Sakaja's legal team demanded he apologise for his statements on the collapse of a 16-storey building in Eastleigh last Friday.
Through his lawyers, the MP dismissed the six-hour ultimatum as insufficient time to address a tragedy that claimed lives and left families devastated, according to a legal response seen by Kenyans.co.ke dated October 26.
Babu Owino, through his lawyers, said he will neither apologise to the supposed developer nor to Governor Sakaja over the collapsed building.
“Our client takes a strong exception to your attempt to characterise his statements concerning the collapsed Eastleigh building as defamatory when the tragedy raises serious questions about public safety, regulatory oversight and accountability,” Owino’s legal team stated.
