Nairobi – Before becoming Nairobi Governor, Sakaja Johnson built a legislative record in the Senate that addressed a broad range of governance, economic and social priorities affecting Kenyans.
Serving as Nairobi Senator between 2017 and 2022, Sakaja sponsored or co-sponsored seven key bills during his time in the upper house of Parliament.
One of his earliest proposals, the County Governments Retirement Scheme Bill, 2018, sought to create a mandatory pension structure for employees across all 47 counties, addressing long-standing concerns over unremitted deductions and inaccessible retirement funds.
