Pressure is mounting on authorities to explain the disappearance of a Nairobi lawyer as colleagues demand accountability and his safe return.
Lawyers took to the streets of Nairobi to protest the disappearance of city lawyer Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi on Friday morning, November 6.
The demonstration, organised by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), began at Milimani Law Courts and was expected to proceed along Kenyatta Avenue to end at Vigilance House.
LSK President Charles Kanjama led the call for advocates, human rights defenders and members of the public to join the march, demanding answers from security agencies and the lawyer’s safe return.
Addressing protesters before the march, Kanjama faulted authorities for failing to account for Abdi's whereabouts, saying that instead of providing answers, they had made allegations against the missing advocate.
