As cases of police impersonation continue to emerge, the DCI has urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals.
Detectives have arrested a man suspected of posing as a police officer and extorting members of the public along Jogoo Road in Nairobi.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect was arrested at Jogoo Road Police Station at DC Stage after residents raised concerns about a man who was allegedly demanding money from unsuspecting individuals while claiming to be an officer.
“A tip-off from members of the public has ended an impersonation and extortion scheme on Jogoo Road, Nairobi, with police arresting a man posing as a police officer before his deception could continue,” the directorate wrote in a statement on Thursday, November 5.
When questioned, the suspect reportedly identified himself as a police sergeant attached to the General Service Unit (GSU) Training School in Embakasi.
