Five Suspects Overpower Police Officers, Escape From Cells in Kiambu

Moments after the incident, a special team from the DCI headquarters in Nairobi was dispatched to hunt down the suspects who are currently at large.

Five suspects facing robbery with violence charges have reportedly escaped from Limuru Police Station in Kiambu County after overpowering police officers during a late-night incident.

According to a police report, the incident occurred at around 11pm on Wednesday, November 4, when officers opened the male cells to transfer 10 detainees to an inner room.

Moments after their removal from the cell, a confrontation between the police officers and the suspects erupted as the detainees attempted to make their way out of the cell.

As the situation escalated, the officers on duty reportedly raised the alarm and called for reinforcement after realising that they were being overpowered by the suspects.

The situation intensified when additional officers responded to distress calls, with the fleeing suspects reportedly attacking some of the officers who arrived to assist their colleagues.
