Sky Sports round-up of Sundays WSL action as Arsenal are held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Aston Villa; Man City moved to the top of the WSL table with an impressive 2-1 win away from home against London City Lionesses
Alessia Russo scored a late equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw for Arsenal against Aston Villa as Renee Slegers' side failed to make their dominance count at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners had 27 shots in total at the Emirates but were left frustrated by a stoic defensive performance from Villa, who sat deep to preserve their lead after Chasity Grant scored with their only shot of the game in the 25th minute.
Villa defended valiantly, supported by eight saves from Akane Okuma, before Russo latched onto Stina Blackstenius' cross to head home the equaliser in the 85th minute.
Arsenal pushed for a late winner but ultimately left themselves with too much to do on an afternoon where their finishing left a lot to be desired.
