Tahmeed bus full of passengers en route to Mombasa bursts into flames in Kibwezi

Tahmeed bus fire on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway in Makueni destroyed the vehicle, but the driver’s quick action helped all passengers escape the blaze safely.

Makueni - A passenger bus operated by Tahmeed Bus Company was completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway in Kiunduani, Kibwezi, within Makueni County.

Preliminary reports indicate all the passengers onboard escaped without injury.

According to witnesses, the fire broke out at approximately 5 am near the Dakota Complex, a stretch of road located between Makindu town and Kiunduani. The bus was reportedly heading to Mombasa from Nairobi when it developed mechanical problems.
