Ask trusted local contacts for practical advice, keep copies of important documents, and be wary of pressure to pay for a property or opportunity before verifying it. You do not need to explore every neighbourhood in the first week.
Look at where you will work, study, or spend most of your time. Test the commute at the hours you expect to travel. A place that looks close on a map may be inconvenient in real traffic or by public transport.
If possible, arrange verified temporary accommodation before committing to a long lease. Budget for transport, food, data, deposits, household basics, and an emergency buffer. The first month often costs more than a normal month because you are setting everything up.
