Job Title: Regional Manager – Micro & BoreshaReports to: Managing DirectorDirect Reports: Fulfilment Centre Team Leaders and other staff as assignedCoverage: All Fulfilment Centres offering Micro & Boresha productsIndustry: Financial ServicesLocation: NairobiGross Salary: Kshs 100,000Role Summary: Our client is looking to hire a Regional Manager – Micro & Boresha, responsible for the end-to-end growth, profitability, customer management and portfolio quality of the Micro and Boresha products.The role drives acquisition, retention, portfolio growth, revenue, collections and recovery, and holds Fulfilment Centre Team Leaders accountable for business and portfolio quality targets. It works closely with Credit, Debt Recovery, Finance, Operations and Marketing to manage the full product lifecycle:Key AccountabilitiesBusiness Growth and New Business Acquisition
• Drive sustainable growth of the Micro and Boresha portfolios, executing strategies to meet approved targets and setting measurable acquisition targets for every Fulfilment Centre.
• Identify new markets, segments, channels, partnerships and cross-selling opportunities; monitor competitor activity and market trends.
• Manage the sales pipeline from lead to disbursement and improve conversion rates, ensuring growth comes from quality business rather than volume alone.
Customer Retention and Client Management
• Build a strong, sustainable customer base, driving repeat business from customers with good repayment history and using segmentation to improve retention and portfolio value.
• Monitor customer satisfaction, complaints and attrition, and act to reduce avoidable customer loss.
Portfolio Growth, Revenue and Profitability
• Deliver disbursement, portfolio and revenue targets while balancing new business, repeat business and retention.
• Monitor loan sizes, customer numbers, portfolio mix, acquisition and delivery costs, and product profitability.
• Identify underperforming products, Fulfilment Centres and teams and implement corrective plans, keeping growth within approved credit and risk parameters.
Collections and Clean Portfolio Management
• Drive timely collection of amounts due, tracking collections against dues daily, weekly and monthly.
• Monitor PAR, NPL, roll rates and cure rates; ensure early intervention and prompt escalation of delinquent accounts to Debt Recovery.
• Remain accountable not only for money disbursed but for money collected and loan book quality; find root causes of deterioration and make clear that hitting disbursement targets with a poor-quality book is not acceptable performance.
Fulfilment Centre, Team and Sales Management
• Provide strong leadership and accountability across all Fulfilment Centres, cascading targets to Team Leaders covering new business, portfolio growth, collections, PAR, acquisition, retention, revenue and productivity.
• Track field activity and productivity per officer (leads, visits, applications, approvals, disbursements, collections and repeat business).
• Coach Team Leaders, run performance reviews and improvement plans, replicate high-performing practices, and build a culture of ownership and execution.
Product Management and Development
• Review product performance, customer needs and competitor offerings; recommend and help implement changes to pricing, limits, repayment terms and segments.
Performance Analysis and Reporting
• Give Management accurate, actionable reports on new business, disbursement, portfolio outstanding, amount due vs collected, PAR, NPL, recovery, acquisition, retention, repeat business, revenue, Fulfilment Centre performance, team productivity and product profitability, with clear analysis, root causes and corrective actions rather than results alone.
Compliance and Risk Management
• Ensure teams follow product policies, delegated authorities and responsible lending; work with Credit and Risk to mitigate risks, implement audit recommendations and escalate material breaches.
People Management, Recruitment and Development
• Ensure the business has the right structure, capacity and talent to meet its growth and portfolio quality goals; work with HR to plan staffing, define role competencies, and take part in recruitment, interviews, onboarding and induction.
• Run structured coaching and mentorship programmes, address skills gaps, and support succession planning and retention of high performers.
• Manage persistent underperformance through proper HR processes, and ensure team capacity keeps pace with portfolio growth cost-effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Marketing or a related field. Professional qualifications or training in banking, microfinance, credit, collections, portfolio management or sales are added advantages.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Microfinance Institution as a Regional Manager, Business Loans Manager, Branch Manager or equivalent, with hands-on responsibility for Micro, Boresha, Business, SME or comparable loan products and portfolio performance.
