As reports of theft, phone snatching and fraud rise in Nairobi, police have shed light on what happens behind the scenes at police stations.
The Kenya Police Service has explained the steps members of the public go through when reporting an incident at a police station, from the moment they arrive at the premises to when the case reaches investigators.
Corporal John Chebii revealed that police stations have designated offices responsible for each part of the process of filing crime reports, as well as other services.
The first point of contact is the customer care desk, which is usually manned by two police officers tasked with attending to anyone with enquiries.
“At the station level, we have different offices. The first is the customer care desk, which is manned by two police officers and their work is to receive the clients and refer them to the relevant offices,” Chebii said.
Anyone seeking to report an incident is received at this desk before being referred to the office that is relevant to their needs.
