Healthcare professionals from 18 countries have gathered in Nairobi to explore practical, affordable ways of improving survival rates among premature and critically ill newborns across Africa.
The experts are attending the four-day Tiny Feet Big Steps (TFBS) Neonatology Conference, which opened on Monday, November 2, bringing together approximately 250 healthcare professionals to discuss ways of strengthening newborn care amid shortages of specialised skills, limited resources and the high cost of neonatal intensive care.
The conference is focusing on improving clinical skills, making better use of available medical equipment and adopting affordable interventions that can help hospitals manage complications affecting vulnerable newborns.
