Heavy rains leave Nairobi roads waterlogged

Photos and videos shared from different parts of the city showed large amounts of water accumulating on roads, with some drainage channels also overwhelmed.

Kenyans have shared photos and videos showing the impact of heavy rains in different parts of Nairobi after a downpour left several roads and streets waterlogged.

The rainfall, which pounded the capital overnight and into Saturday morning, disrupted movement in several areas, with motorists and pedestrians forced to navigate flooded roads.

One of the areas affected was the Thika Road corridor, where flooding was reported around the Githurai area.

Footage shared from the area showed water covering sections of the road as motorists made their way through the flooded sections.

In another video seen, a bus appeared to be stuck in a ditch along Uhuru Highway, Nairobi, following the heavy rains on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
