Dennis Itumbi, Kenya's Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination, has stepped forward to defend the highly anticipated Ajax versus Bayern Munich football match scheduled for January 5, 2027, in Nairobi.

Itumbi addressed growing public discontent from a section of Kenyans who, unhappy with President William Ruto's announcement of the fixture, had begun calling on the two European giants to cancel their trip to the country.

Itumbi explained that the match is not a random exhibition game but is tied to a significant national milestone: the official opening of the Raila Odinga International Stadium.
